There are some brands that even though I've heard nothing particularly bad about them, I still struggle to have any interest in what they're doing. Covergirl is one. (Max Factor is the other). I'm sure Covergirl is a perfectly nice brand. I just sort of - slide past them.
I noticed idly that both Rimmel and Covergirl had belatedly ventured into lip crayon territory, and since my appetite for this genre is pretty epic, I thought I'd give em a go. Compulsory loot shot:
There doesn't appear to be color names, just numbers (230 and 235, left to right). The packaging is very similar to the Clinique chubby sticks, silver windup, oversized lids, same approximate size. There were on sale for $10 each when I got them from Priceline.
They definitely fall on the Balm side as opposed to the Lipstick side, though they dry into a tint fairly fast. They've a pretty light touch, which is great for those of us who apply lip products without mirrors, shiftyeyes.
They aren't particularly moisturizing, and there's no real scent beyond that general waxy-lip product scent. Their big saving grace is that they are so sheer and set fast - so in my case, it makes them a pretty ideal work-product. Don't think I'd need more shades than the two I have here (have definitely used the berry-ish shade more), but they are worth an investigation even if you are ultra fatigued by the lip crayons. As I maybe have started to be (sorry). Very nice, well priced low-fuss tinted lips.
