I always toy with the idea of doing monthly empties, but the sad truth is it usually takes me a few months to gather enough products to make it worth everyone's time. And even then the majority of those products are the same ones that I have three or four of every empties post, so it's not like I'm bringing much new to the table.
But lets get those recurring bubbies out of the way first, yes?
The only reason there isn't more pHisohex in there is because I finally got around to buying the big half litre, which is sitting like a massive smug bastard in my shower and showing no signs of being finished in the near future. My pHisohex/tea tree oil cream duo is becoming more and more vital the sweatier the weather gets, and accordingly I have multiple backups. Have been doing less of the makeup wipes in recent times, just because in this weather I'm happier to properly wash my face and use the Dove instead. Wipes right now seem to be only used to spot clean my brushes.
And onto the full image:
There's a few here I've talked about in detail before and thus I will ignore, but there's a few notable things in here I'll dwell on a bit.
OHWTO Black Magic: A wonderful, potent, black as sin and smells like a fireplace cleanser. It has a logistical issues - you can only use it in the shower, since it will send big black dribbles into your cleavage, and the tube shape is an issue. It's not very flexy and thus you really don't have access to the last fifth of the product. You can buy it as a bar of soap, but I kind of can't stand bars of soap (how do people deal with the mess? the sogginess? the steady deterioration?) so Black Magic for now will not be a re-buy. If the packaging has a change of heart, I'd probably go back.
Biore Even Smoother: Oh hey, remember this one? Yup. It made it's way back into the shower recess because Luke was doing some supergluing, and I suggested it to scrub his fingers with to get the glue off. Wonder of wonders, it totally works as a superglue removalist. I ended up using the remainder on the keratosis on my forearms, which seemed to respond fairly well.
Korres Watermelon body scrub: As with all body scrubs, having it in a tube is folly. That said, due to the ultra-slippiness of the suspension fluid, it goes much further than most body scrubs and smells absolutely wonderful. I got this one in Singapore for $20 or something similarly ridiculous, but I'd pay more for another. Not really challenging Haus of Gloi as yet, but really pleasant nonetheless.
La Prairie night cream: Dammit, I've forgotten the exact name of this one. It's only a little'un but it went a fair while - as with most top of the line skin creams, is far too dense and rich for me, but it does smell overwhelmingly like Rich Lady, which I'm quite partial to. Fun while it lasted.
And there's actually a fair chunk of makeup in there!! Holy Moses!
Innoxa Ultimate Lash Mascara: I never use up a mascara - it just hits the point where it needs to be ditched due to age. That said this one was very serviceable, nothing to write home about and yet no complaints. It wasn't a thickener, so I'd say it's better suited to girls who are happy with the shape and length of their lashes but just want some solid black coverage.
Smashbox lip enhancing gloss: A long stint in my work makeup bag has yielded results. It's only a little travel sized one, but it hung around for a good long while and was a really pleasant low key day gloss with a wonderfully buttermilk-esque smell. Will investigate some of the big ones.
Smashbox eye duo: Ah, my trusty Smashbox duo. I wore this on work days more than any other eyeshadow, no doubt contributing to the useage of one side and shattering of the other. I will miss you, old friend. (As a sidenote, this particular combo - Glow/Getter - is ALL over ebay. wonder why?)
Quick & Clean BB Cream: Now discontinued, but happily replaced by the all-indicators-point-to identical Clean Face BB cream. Don't buy it in store. Ebay is your friend. Considering how I've just discovered it does wonders for the acreage of blotchy skin above my boobs, looks like I'll be stocking up.
Wooo! And thats my empties for now. I know I've been rather quiet on the blog - I have a fair few things lined up, so in theory it should be business as usual now. I had my wallet and phone stolen on tuesday, and while in theory that shouldn't interfere with posting, it - sorta does. Having things stolen adds a special kind of despondency to your day. Also the various calling and running around I've been doing as a result cuts into my blogging time. Bah, excuses. I'll be back soon.

Black Magic also comes in plastic tubs, with a handy little spatula to scoop it out. Also the Black Magic scrub is AMAZING, highly recommend it!!
ReplyDeleteHi, I have probably never commented before, but really enjoy reading your blog. Your reviews are great, and it’s really interesting seeing a good mix of Australian products with online purchases.
ReplyDeleteI love the Black Magic cleanser, but I agree about the tubes being annoying. They now sell the cleanser in a 2 or 4 oz jar here, which is far more convenient. I tend to decant a few weeks worth into a smaller jar. The bar version is also very good, and I keep mine in a soap holder with drainage, so it never gets soggy and gross.
Effectively schooled! I'll have to check that out - and I LOVE a good scrub. Thanks enablers!
ReplyDeleteNice work on the empties! Bummer about your phone/wallet :( hope some good karma comes your way!
ReplyDeleteAwesome empties :) I also love those Smashbox glosses, I have a nude one and use it all the time, probably because it smells so darn good!
