In the tube it's a dark bluey pink, which I love, and there is an absolute buttload of sparkle in it. It's amazing. I tried (with marginal success) to catch it on camera:
Look at the sparkle you see there and times that by ten. I've never seen or worn anything with this much sparkle. And in action:
Urgh, ignore how pokey my skin looks - this is what happens when you step in front of ultrabright studio lights. The color, under bright light (and in daylight, I can vouch for this) is a VERY dense, bright but dark pink. The first stroke of it is extremely pigmented (see smiley face) but very smooth and easy to use, and I'll admit to really enjoying applying these. I was crap at staying in the lines in primary school, and I don't think I've gotten any worse, but it's still a nostalgic experience.
I wore this all day today - started out almost garishly bright, and as the day wore on - lunch, dinner, snacks, cider and a coke later - it was fading, but fading evenly. Like at every hour there was a completely different but freshly applied colour on my lips. Even now, about five hours after first application, I have a really lush, even berry wash on my lips that doesn't even shift when I wipe at my lips. Its a lipstick that successfully turns into a stain! Huzzah! And it's worth clarifying that - these feel and look like lipstick. There is nothing balm-ish or mild about the color or application - it's lipstick. Just in an adorable sharpenable form.
My early response was to compare these to the Chubby Sticks, which I also love - but I just can't. They set out to do very different things. The Chubby Sticks are like a tinted balm, the Ultragloss Pencils are solid, vibrant, longlasting color. I love them both. I will use them both. I am going back to Priceline to get more SO FAST.
Would completely recommend. I'm blown out of the water. In the good way. And no - I bought this, no one sent it to me (so you know...).

I am in love with that colour, it is gorgeous! I really must get my hands on some Models Prefer stuff. I seem to always pass the display by at Priceline for some reason so I shall have to take a closer look at what they have.
ReplyDelete@Megs: you NEED to. this color especially is just insane. I think it'd look awesome on you! My one wistful thought while wearing it was that it'd probably be a little more balanced on someone with either darker skin or dark hair...
ReplyDeleteRight, so first off - as a result of discovering you, I last night went on a NYX rampage at Cherry Culture. (Nonpareil Boutique were out of everything I wanted, so I gave up and looked elsewhere.) :-)
ReplyDeleteNext: I used to wear lip pencil all over my lips, topped with lipstick, but as I'm getting older *sigh*, I seem to have drier lips and can't seem to do that anymore. I have a serious lack of lipline definition, so I'm wondering if this I'd something that might work for me. Would love your opinion!
Finally: I have always been an absolute slave to makeup and beauty, but in the last few years, seem to have lost quite a bit of my passion for it. Not sure why. But your blog appears to have reinvigorated me in that respect. Refer point 1. ;-)
Thank you! (Even though my bank account may suffer as a result! :-S)
Emma.
Knew auto-correct would get me somewhere! :-P
ReplyDelete*is something, not I'd something.
There!
Emma.
I have this shade and LOOOOOOOOVE IT. I did a FOTD using it but haven't posted it yet, mostly because it's not really a FOTD. It's just 23947824 photos of me wearing it because I friggin love it!
ReplyDelete@Emma: I suspect you'd still need a lipliner if you have problems with definition! the tip of this is quite wide and wouldn't be great for more precision lining. its essentially a funny looking lipstick, and like a lipstick a liner would be a good idea :0 thanks so much for acknowledging my role in your future bankruptcy. ;)
ReplyDeleteOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOo! Pretty! Shiny! Glossy! Red!
ReplyDeleteAll my favorite things!!!
These look fab! Must look out for that type of pencils
ReplyDeleteHoly shit! This looks awesome! I'm not even a lip person but I feel like I need one...
ReplyDeleteI've never really looked at the MP stuff because I assumed it was cheap and nasty, but I am going to run out and get this! I'm not sure how a bluey fuschia would look on me, I'm worried it might make me look a bit ill with my yellow-tinted skin :P But the consistency and effect sounds like the holy grail!
ReplyDelete@Jess: play with the testers. the outside color isnt a great indication of how it goes on the skin!
ReplyDeletei prefer these as well!!! so shiny and LOVING the light colour
